The relationship between choline chloride, betaine and methionine
Choline is a quaternary ammonium base with strong alkalinity. Choline chloride is the hydrochloride of choline, and its aqueous solution is weakly acidic. Choline has three functional roles in livestock and poultry metabolism and growth:

The relationship between choline, methionine and betaine is:

3. Choline and betaine cannot replace methionine for protein synthesis. However, in diets with severe choline deficiency, if betaine is not added, methionine will provide methyl donors for functional metabolism, thereby wasting methionine resources and costs.
If betaine is added, methionine will not be used as a methyl donor, thus saving methionine resources, promoting protein synthesis, and thus increasing growth rate.
