What is Silica Powder?

Silica powder is a high-purity silicon dioxide material produced through crushing, precipitation, fuming, or controlled spherical atomization.
Its chemical stability, hardness, insulating properties and high surface area make it one of the most widely used technical fillers across industrial processing.

Depending on the production method, silica can be:

  • Amorphous precipitated silica – for rubber, plastics, feed, and anti-caking.
  • Fumed (pyrogenic) silice – ultra-high surface area for rheology control, thixotropy, and viscosity modification.
  • Spherical silica – flow-enhancing micro-spheres for electronics, coatings and high-end plastics.
  • Silica gel powder – for desiccants, cosmesi, chromatography.
  • Nano silica – reinforcement agent for plastics, cement, rubber and coatings.

Each grade behaves differently in real manufacturing systems—particle shape, surface area and hydrophilicity all influence performance.
This is why technical selection is critical.

Contattaci

1. What is silica powder used for?
Silica powder is used in food as an anti-caking agent (E551), in cosmetics for oil absorption and light diffusion, in construction to enhance concrete strength, and in rubber/plastics as a reinforcing filler.

2. Is silica powder safe for food applications?
Sì, food-grade silica powder is considered safe by the FDA (GRAS status under 21 CFR 172.480) and confirmed by EFSA in its 2024 re-evaluation of E551.

3. What types of silica powder do you supply?
We offer precipitated silica, fumed silica, and colloidal silica, with options for food grade, cosmetic grade, and industrial grade applications.

4. What certifications does your silica powder have?
Our products are certified under FDA GRAS, EFSA, ISO 9001, Halal, and Kosher standards.

5. Can I get customized particle size or surface treatment?
Sì, we provide custom specifications including particle size, surface area, oil absorption, and treated or untreated silica based on your formulation needs.

6. How is silica powder different from silica gel?
Silica powder is typically used as a functional ingredient, while silica gel is used as a desiccant. They differ in structure, moisture absorption, and application.

7. What is your minimum order quantity (MOQ (in inglese))?
Our MOQ varies depending on the grade and packaging but typically starts at 500 Kg.

8. Do you offer samples for testing?
Sì, free samples are available for qualified B2B buyers upon request.
