Vinyl Silicone Oil (Vinyl-Terminated Polydimethylsiloxane, VPDMS) is the key reactive silicone polymer used across addition-cure systems such as RTV-2, LSR and HTV silicone rubber. What Is Vinyl Silicone Oil (VPDMS)?
Vinyl silicone oil is a linear PDMS polymer terminated with vinyl groups (–CH=CH₂). These terminal vinyl groups enable addition reactions with Si–H containing crosslinkers under platinum catalysis.
Because the vinyl groups are located at the polymer chain ends, curing behavior is clean, well-controlled and highly reproducible.
